The constituency of Siglap has one of the highest number of senior citizens in our country. Senior citizens constitute >30% of the total population of Siglap (compared to the average 10% in Singapore).
The Siglap Senior Citizen Executive Committee (SCEC) serves as important bridge between the Siglap Community Centre and the senior residents of Siglap. Its members work tirelessly to setup networks, build friendship and trust within the elderly community. The SCEC aim to help the senior citizens in their daily needs ranging from health and medical needs, look after their well being, organising activities and excursions for them, etc. The SCEC works hand in hand with all the Siglap Residents Committee (RC) and Neighbourhood Committees (NC) and respond quickly to incidents of elderly citizen's needs as well as show solidarity on the ground during crises.
